You probably won’t notice, but when you went to effervescentdesigns.com, you were redirected to b10mediaworx.com/effervescentdesigns.

B10 Mediaworx is my publishing company and I’m officially putting Effervescent Designs under B10 Mediaworx’s umbrella, because after all, Effervescent Designs does publish stuff.

I’m working on getting the last four designs out before the end of the year. I will also be selling off paper pattern packs on eBay, along with most of my physical inventory. Effervescent Designs will still sell the digital and paper patterns as long as B10 Mediaworx exists.

New Release: Eye of God

Updates No Comments »

Behold the Eye of God (helix nebula, that is). This is a taxpayer-funded image that’s free to use, but terms are that credit is given where credit is due, thus: NASA, NOAO, ESA, the Hubble Helix Nebula Team, M. Meixner (STScI), and T.A. Rector (NRAO). Thank you for a beautiful image!

Rekindling my love for cross stitch

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about Effervescent Designs and where it’s going and what I want to do with it. I haven’t had time to put into it the last two years, but I do have an investment of time and money over the last four years to think about.

Let me confess: I don’t like it much anymore. I turned my hobby into a business and now I don’t like my hobby, the one of my heart and soul. I had decided to scale back a little bit, put up for sale those designs I worked on the first two years of Effervescent Designs’s life, because I have money invested in those. That will happen.

What will be changing (for now):

  1. People come here for the designs, not the supplies; thus, I’m going to phase out the build-your-own kit program and will stop carrying supplies once the current stash is gone.
  2. Other than the posted designs and release dates, I only have one more design for which I have paid a licensing fee for the art. It will be the last design Effervescent Designs puts out.
  3. My publishing house, B10 Mediaworx, will be absorbing Effervescent Designs and transferring its location to http://b10mediaworx.com/effervescentdesigns at some future date (read: when I get around to it).

As long as I have print copies of my designs and you are willing to buy digitally, these Effervescent Designs will be around.

What was it Warren Buffett said? Fail early, fail often. I haven’t failed, but I grieve the loss of my enjoyment of my most longlasting and fruitful hobby. These changes are the first step in my attempt to get that back.

New Release: Red Violin II: Curls

Updates No Comments »

Well, okay. I was a day later than I meant to be. Maxima mea culpa. But! It’s here, Red Violin II: Curls. I did the middle one first because I had a few requests for that one. The rest are coming, I promise!

The store is open!

I’ve finally finished rebuilding the database and the shopping cart, so please update your bookmarks. (Click on the SHOP tab above.) Please note that my personal stitching blog is at Like Bubbles Through a Sieve, and I have yet to update that.

Curls, the middle violin below, is almost finished, and will be in the shop by the end of April, if not before.

Now, as for where I’ve been: Writing novels. Most stitchers I know are avid readers of various and sundry genres and non-genres. I write in what a friend affectionately calls the “soap opera” genre under the name Moriah Jovan. Thus, you will find two books in the store, which are the ones I was writing while I was AWOL from Stitchville. My next book doesn’t come out until April 24, 2011, so this year I’ll be adding more designs.

Trust me, only pen and paper could take me away from needles and thread.

It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

I promised a few things here and there, one of which was the first of the Red Violin series, which is still on the drawing board.

I’m completely overhauling the site here (again). For whatever reason, my database was corrupted, so I’m starting over again. Same theme, but a fresh start.

Until I get this site and the shopping cart up and running, you can still get patterns and goods at the original site.
